PEO 2020 Virtual Gallerie of Shoppes

46th Annual Gallerie of Shoppes is Going Online for 2020

Friday, Nov. 6th – Saturday, Nov. 7th

The Gallerie of Shoppes Committee has been working hard to address current concerns regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our vendors and shoppers. The difficult decision has been made to cancel the in-person event at the KI Center. In lieu of the in-person event, Gallerie of Shoppes 2020 will still have your favorite shoppes in an online event that you can join in the comfort of your own home.

Gallerie of Shoppes is an annual shopping event like no other. You will find over 30 specialty stores featuring home decor, jewelry, gifts, gourmet food, seasonal items, and apparel for men, women and children – offering a unique and fun shopping experience while giving back to the community at the same time.

All of the participating stores are located outside of Brown County, but all of the proceeds raised from this fundraiser stay right here and provide educational scholarships to women in our community.

Each store provides the local chapters of P.E.O. a portion of proceeds from every item they sell, and that Gallerie revenue is used for grants to women whose education has been interrupted or whose life circumstances necessitate a return to school to achieve a needed goal.

What could be better than shopping the entire state of Wisconsin at one location, while raising money for women in our community?

Gallerie of Shoppes is the only combined fundraising activity of five Green Bay chapters of P.E.O.

What is PEO?

Women Helping Women Reach for the Stars

P.E.O. – (Philanthropic Educational Organization) is a U.S. based international women’s organization with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide. Since 1869, through membership, the P.E.O. Sisterhood has brought together more than a half a million women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education, while supporting and motivating them.

P.E.O. exists to be a source of encouragement and support for women to realize their potential in whatever worthwhile endeavor they choose. The P.E.O. Sisterhood proudly sponsors six international philanthropies, or projects, designed to assist women with their educational goals, clearly making a difference in the lives of women all over the world.

More than 113,000 women have benefited from the organization’s educational grants, loans, awards, special projects and stewardship of Cottey College. As of April 2020, P.E.O. has awarded Educational Loan Fund dollars totaling more than $221 million, International Peace Scholarships are more than $42.1 million, Program for Continuing Education grants are more than $62.4 million, Scholar Awards are more than $28.2 million and P.E.O. STAR Scholarships are more than $12.8 million. In addition, P.E.O. has owned and supported Cottey College, an independent, baccalaureate-granting liberal arts and sciences institution, since 1927.

In 2019-20, 70 percent of Cottey students were enrolled in a 4-year program. Grant, loan and award recipients – as well as Cottey College students – need not be members of P.E.O. With the exception of international students who receive International Peace Scholarships, each recipient issponsored by a P.E.O. chapter. This allows the chapter members to be a meaningful part of “their” student’s life.

On Deck’s Mitch Larson – A Man with a Mission

Behind the Scenes: Discovering Great Products for On Deck Customers

From KUHL’s start, 3 young men with a few pairs of shorts saw a need for better activewear.

Mitch Larson, Owner/Buyer for On Deck Clothing Company, is highly skilled at finding terrific apparel lines that suit his customers in Door County. Mitch recognized Kuhl’s potential when he met the owner, Kevin Boyle, 30 years ago at KUHL’s very first market show. On Deck became one of KUHL’s first buying customers.

Kevin Boyle, pictured with Mitch Larson, recently offered a “Thank You” weekend to those Store Owners who have been there for KUHL from its conception. Since Utah was the birthplace for KUHL, the company offered a private 2 day viewing of the entire 2020 KUHL line, at Robert Redford’s beautiful Sundance Resort. Kevin Boyle spoke passionately about the importance of remembering those who “brought you to the dance and believed in you as the company grew”.

KUHL is now an international company featuring great looking, functional and durable outdoor clothing for men and women of all ages. You’ll find an impressive selection of hand picked KUHL clothing at On Deck’s stores in Fish Creek, Sister Bay and Sturgeon Bay. Try Kuhl –  you’ll become a believer.

“ I’ve been very fortunate to be friends with Kevin Boyle for many years. Talking with him is always just fascinating, because he is so passionate about his product–  from the design, to the fabric and the functional fit.”  Mitch Larson

We are proud to be the premier retailer of Kuhl in Door County.
