Mitch Message Thanksgiving 2024

Mitch Message, Thanksgiving 2024
“When we support local businesses, we’re supporting our neighbors, our friends, and out families.”   Steve Jobs
I want to take a moment to sincerely Thank You.

In Door County, we are surrounded by needs in our community, and I am continually humbled by the opportunity to make a difference.

At On Deck Clothing, we feel a deep responsibility to contribute to the place we call home and help keep Door County a wonderful place to live.

When you choose to shop local, you empower small businesses like ours to give back in meaningful ways. For that, we are truly grateful.

On Deck Supports Door County:

  • Schools, Historical Societies and Museums, The Arts and Entertainment
  • Local Fire and Rescue, and our Literacy Programs
  • The Humane Society, our area marathons, smaller running venues and bike events
  • Northern Door Children’s Center, community seasonal street scapes
  • Boys and Girls Club of Door County, DC Toys for Kids,…and so many more

Once again, thank you for your support. It means the world to us.

Mitch Message November 2023

Mitch's good friend, Bob Schaupp

To those who were “my senior” and who believed in me from my humble beginnings...

This past month, we lost a dear friend and loyal On Deck Clothing customer, Bolo Schaupp.

Back in the mid-1980s, when I was just starting out, On Deck store sales were significantly lean. Yet, year after year on Thanksgiving weekend, Bob would bring his entire family into the store for their annual holiday gift buying.
In his silent charismatic way, he knew that his choice to shop at a small, local, start-up business would have a significant financial impact. The Schaupp family shopping day not only helped this young entrepreneur keep the lights on but also continually bolstered my confidence in my Door County business dream.
Thank you, Bolo.
You are missed.

Message from Mitch – July 4th, 2024

Whether it be on national holidays or in times of victory or sorrow, the significance of the American flag in festivities and remembrances cannot be emphasized enough.

Its mere presence pays tribute to past accomplishments and serves as a powerful inspiration to our upcoming generations.

Fun Fact:
In 1969, the United States successfully planted its first flag on the moon during the manned Apollo 11 mission. After this, five more flags were erected on the moon by our US astronauts in their subsequent missions until 1972.

On Deck Clothing Company celebrates our Ol’ Glory. As the 4th of July holiday nears, enjoy shopping at our 3 store locations for unique red, white & blue attire: Fish Creek, Sister Bay and Sturgeon Bay.

As the sun sets on another year, I have come to know each and  every year that a thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues. The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but the thankful  heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings.

To my On Deck staff…each of you individually are one of the strongest people I know. You challenge me to be a better person. I am blessed – you are my Rock. To all of who support On Deck and Door County…you are  genuinely appreciated and thank you for believing in us.

“You’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with.”

So as it is Good Bye to 2023 let’s choose Onwards and Upwards to 2024.

Mitch Message Winter December 2023

DOOR COUNTY DECEMBERS offer a landscape not commonly found elsewhere.

Here, street lamps and turn-of-the-century storefronts are abundantly adorned with evergreen boughs and shimmering lights.

From Sturgeon Bay to the tip of the Peninsula, winter transforms this region into a special place, evoking a feeling of new discovery.

It has been said by many that the meaningful connection to a sense of place can sometimes be lost.

In these moments, our visitors find themselves heading to the winter shores of Door County.

I am Door County born and raised. Thank you for believing in this Lake Michigan gem.
